July 16th 2009 is the 40th anniversary of the lift-off of Apollo 11, the first manned space mission to land on the Moon It was the fifth human spaceflight of Project Apollo and the third human voyage to the Moon.
It carried Mission Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin. On 20 July, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon, while Collins orbited above.

Jo was also the first female and Rob the first Australian to achieve this. Motivational speaker Felicity Aston is currently the leader and chief organiser of the Commonwealth Women’s Antarctic Expedition which will involve a team of women from Cyprus, Ghana, India, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, New Zealand, Jamaica and the UK, skiing to the South Pole at the end of 2009 to mark the 60th anniversary year of the Commonwealth.
