A village of barely 3,000 people, Hoffenheim has produced a football team that has risen from the local league to the top of the German Bundesliga, acquiring a brand-new 40,000 seat stadium on the way. FC Hoffenheim's meteoric rise has been financed by Dietmar Hopp, founder of Europe's largest software enterprise, SAP. Team manager Ralf Ragnick joined when the team was in the second division, He inspires audiences with their remarkable rise to the top.
Ian Goldin is Director of the James Martin 21st Century School at the University of Oxford, which has been established to tackle the challenges of the future, from the ageing population to stem cell research, nanoscience to rising sea levels. Recent Events
Sir Tim Berners-Lee recently spoke for us at Campus Party Brazil. This was a four-day event which took place in Sao Paulo, with more than 4,000 attendees from the world of technology from all over South America. Tim spoke at the opening ceremony and then gave a keynote speech the following morning on "15 years of the World Wide Web, Past and Future".
Charles Leadbeater ran the Managing Innovation Masterclass, a one-day seminar for 200 Saudi business executives in Riyadh. Amongst the questions he addressed were:- Why Innovation is Important; Why it is always Misunderstood; Why a Business Downturn is good for Innovation; The Main Sources of Innovation; Creating an Innovation Culture.
