Andrew Marr


Andrew Marr began his career as a general and business reporter for The Scotsman. Subsequent positions included Scotsman's parliamentary correspondent, 1994-6; political correspondent, The Independent (when it launched) 1996-98; political editor, The Scotsman 1998; political editor The Economist, 1998-1992; chief political commentator, The Independent, 1992-96; editor, The Independent and editor-in-chief, Independent on Sunday, 1996-98; columnist, The Observer and The Express, 1998-2000.

Andrew Marr joined the BBC as political editor in May 2000.

He presents Start The Week on BBC Radio 4 and has presented numerous TV and radio series, including documentaries and interview series.

Andrew Marr has published three books - The Battle for Scotland (Penguin 1992), Ruling Britannia (Penguin 1995/6) and The Day Britain Died (Profile, 2000). National awards include two awards as columnist of the year, 1994/5, the Creative Freedom award as journalist of the year in 1999 and a broadcasting award, as political journalist of the year in the Channel 4/Hansard Society awards in 2000.
